52.28.4 Voice Quality

Performs audio quality measurement (AQM) including PESQ/POLQA:
CS voice quality measurement in other configurations is handled with the " AQM Measurement" activity.
Note that the measurements collected are found in the Media Quality information element category: see Information Elements and Events, section "Information Element Table".

Algorithm: The algorithm to use for audio quality measurement.

Nonintrusive: (This option loads the channel with speech, but currently does not produce any unique measurements.)

PESQ P862.1: PESQ.

POLQA P863 Narrowband: POLQA for narrowband speech.

POLQA P863 Super Wideband: POLQA for super wideband speech.

sQLEAR: sQLEAR for M2M VoLTE EVS speech. It is recommended to lock the measurement device to the selected EVS codec during measurements, if possible.

Audio Source: The source of the audio whose quality is to be measured. When this source is external to the PC, the device physically connected to the PC is meant.

On Device Measurement: On-device client on a connected mobile device. This client itself computes and delivers the AQM scores.

VoIP (PC): PC-based VoIP client.

Device Digital Audio: Digital audio delivered from a connected mobile device to the PC. The AQM scores are computed on the PC.

Infovista ACU R2: Audio Capturing Unit ACU R2. This option is used whenever an ACU R2 is present (i.e. also when one is used in a VoIP configuration).

Call Type:

M2M: Mobile to mobile.

M2F: Mobile to fixed. This option is available only in the ACU R2 configuration.

Duration: The length of time ("hh:mm:ss") for which to collect voice quality measurements.

Store AQM Files: The purpose of this option is to allow you to save audio files that have received poor MOS scores. Enter the threshold value under MOS Limit. If the MOS score is lower than or equal to this threshold, the audio file will be saved under Documents\TEMS Product Files\TEMS Investigation 23.2\Voice Quality Recordings. In the case of on-device AQM, the files are temporarily stored on the internal memory card of the AQM-computing device under odm\polqa\saved, then moved to the computer, to the directory specified above.

Full Calculation: Turning this option on enables calculation of "POLQA Level 3", an Opticom extension of POLQA output. This option must be turned on to obtain the "Speech Interruption Downlink" information element and the "Handover Speech Interruption Downlink" and "Speech Interruption Time Downlink" events derived from it. – Not applicable to PESQ; not available for on-device measurement.

Note: Full Calculation will produce a lot of load on the PC/NUC processor and it is recommended to limit the number of devices according to available CPU power, to avoid interruptions.
