54.10.3 Cell Lock in LTE
54.10.3.1. Sony Xperia V LT25i, Xperia T LT30a
These devices can be locked on one EARFCN. It is not possible to specify a PCI, nor can this function be toggled to "prevent" mode.
The LTE Cell Lock function needs to be combined with a function for disabling LTE inter-frequency (that is, inter-EARFCN) handover. The latter is available in the separate TEMS Capability Control app, which is preinstalled on devices supporting LTE Cell Lock. The disabling of handover must be done before you connect the device in TEMS Investigation. See the end of this section.
When both functions are applied, the device will be forced to remain on the same EARFCN as long as it is in connected mode. However, if the device goes into idle mode, the EARFCN lock no longer prevents it from switching to a different EARFCN.
To pick an EARFCN to lock on, click the Add button:
Band selection: Here you specify an LTE band on which the EARFCN resides.
Range selection is not used for LTE.
Under Channel selection, select the EARFCN you wish to lock on. The PCI box is disabled.
Below is an example of an LTE Cell Lock setup. Here, the device is locked on EARFCN 2850 on E-UTRA Band 7 (2600 MHz).
To remove the item from the list box, select it and click Remove.
Disabling Handover in TEMS Capability Control
The TEMS Capability Control app has a checkbox that reads "Disable LTE inter-frequency handover". The TEMS Investigation device needs to be rebooted for a change in handover behavior to take effect; this is done automatically when you tap the Apply & reboot button. Note that once LTE inter-frequency handover has been disabled, no further reboot is required on any occasion when you apply an LTE EARFCN lock.
54.10.3.2. Sony Xperia Z5 E6653, Z3 D6603, Z2 D6503; Samsung Galaxy Devices
These devices can be locked to a PCI on a given EARFCN. Some devices can also be locked to a set of multiple PCIs. The lock persists in idle as well as connected mode.
The device will reboot when the lock is applied, and the lock persists after the reboot.
Prevent mode is not available.
