4.25 Enhanced Substitution of GPS Position Source
Legacy ‘Use GPS Position from Other File’ provides limited options for utilize other log file GPS information for selected log file. The option may be used to substitute GPS data for one recipient log file at a time, source log file needs to be part of the same dataset, with GPS position update having temporary status.
‘Enhanced Substitution of GPS Position Source’ option allows for automated GPS position substitution based on user-defined criteria. The option is applicable to several different use cases:
Test devices not equipped with or connected to GPS receiver,
Test device GPS readings off or missing,
Handheld drive test setup using multiple devices with pinpointing done by one of them,
Requirement to use referential device GPS readings for all other test devices to ensure consistent map presentation.
4.25.1 Substitute GPS Position Source Configuration
GPS position source substitution is based on user-defined configuration delineating “source” and “recipient” log files via name matching criteria. ‘Substitute GPS Position Source Configuration’ option launches configuration form which can be used to define and save name matching criteria applicable to specific set of log files.

Substitute GPS position source configuration is fully integrated into 'Configuration Management' option for easy configuration sharing.
4.25.2 GPS Position Source Substitution Method
Substitution of GPS position source is carried out for all “recipient” log files by substituting original GPS information with the one copied from the concurrent “source” log files. “Source” and “recipient” log files don’t need to be ideally aligned in time. i.e., substitute GPS position for a single “recipient” log file may be sourced from multiple “source” log files. GPS position substitution request will be cancelled out if the criteria set in user configuration flag same log files as both "source" and "recipient".

Substitute_GPS_Position_Source read-only device attribute will be populated for “recipient” log file upon GPS position source substitution with “source” log file name(s).

Rectified (geo-referenced) indoor log files may be used as GPS position source with floor print definition and associated device attributes copied into time-matching “recipient” log file. Text data files imported using ‘Generic Text (Delimited)’ option may also be used as source of GPS position data.
4.25.3 Manual Application of Enhanced Substitution of GPS Position Source
Enhanced substitution of GPS position source can be triggered manually from dataset and composite dataset right click context menu ‘Substitute GPS Position Source’ option.
‘Substitute GPS Position Source’ selection will launch configuration selection form for user to select applicable configuration.

Initiating substitution of GPS position source will permanently update selected recipient log files’ location information.

4.25.4 Automated Application of Enhanced Substitution of GPS Position Source
Enhanced substitution of GPS position source can be automatically scheduled using ADP Management feature. For that, user may select ‘Substitute GPS position source for selected output data’ output option under ADP ‘Step4: Output Type’ with appropriate configuration. GPS position substitution will be triggered at the time and for data scope determined by ADP scheduler (Step 3) and data source (Step 2) configuration respectively. Automated GPS position substitution may be enabled with other output types (e.g., Report, Map Export, Tabular Export, etc.) but it will be executed before any other output is generated.
